A rewarding employment opportunity for a Heritage Advisor – Policies & Legislation has become available at the Taungurung Land and Waters Council (TLaWC) in the Cultural Heritage team. We are the corporate representative of the Taungurung people. As a Registered Aboriginal Party (2009), TLaWC serves to uphold the interests of Taungurung people with respect to Culture and Country.

The main responsibilities of the Heritage Advisor – Policies & Legislation are to:
1) ensure efficient delivery of CHMP/CHP activities under the AHA2006
2) develop efficiencies within statutory obligations
3) develop and work towards TLaWC-led approaches to the management of the archaeological record

Status: Part time (0.6 FTE)
Term: Fixed Term until 30 June 2025
Location: Alexandra & Field work across Taungurung Country

Key Duties
• Ensure the timely delivery of Letters of Advice/Due Diligence Assessments
• Ensure timely evaluation of CHMPs and CHPs
• Led in the development templates for CHMPs, CHPs, and other routine tasks
• Assist in the development of workflows and procedures for all statutory activities to create efficiencies within the AHA2006 system
• Assist in the legal advice and policy development of the TLaWC-led responses to the cultural heritage management framework within Victoria
• Liaise with external stakeholders as required in the development of TLaWC-led responses to cultural management framework within Victoria
• Any other duties, as directed by the Director, RAP

General
• Comply with all safety policies, procedures and work instructions to support a safe work environment for all staff

Role Requirements
• Long periods of time spent sedentary at a desk
• Reasonable level of health and fitness required to perform the inherent requirements of the role
