The Safety Officer will be responsible for providing support to the HR & Safety Advisor in all safety related matters. They will ensure WHS compliance with current legalisation across the organisation by contributing to an OHS framework.

This position sits within our Corporate Services division. Corporate Services is a highly engaged team providing service excellence to other teams. This team is proactive, passionate and has a diverse skill set. Corporate Services collaborate as a team and support one another to achieve great outcomes, often receiving praise for efforts.

Based in Broadford
Part-time (0.6 FTE)
$81,087 – $84,168  pro rata

Key Duties

  • Ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety act 2004
  • Maintenance of the Safety Management System including training for staff
  • Writing and review of safe work procedures, safe operating procedures, risk assessments, JSA’s and other general safety policies and procedures
  • Assessing workplace hazards and risks
  • Maintaining incident register with incident reports and conducting incident investigations
  • On site safety compliance and toolbox talks with field staff
  • Review and oversite of safety equipment for workplace vehicles
  • PPE compliance
  • Ensuring depots and offices are complaint with OHS regulations, conducting safety audits and storing audit records
  • General administration duties

Key Selection Criteria

Essential capacities

  • Cert 4 in work health and safety or relevant industry experience
  • Knowledge of NRM or field based business and processes (preferred)
  • Previous experience administering and managing databases
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of WHS policies relating to the workplace
