The Project Officer will sit within the Biik Environmental team to deliver a number water programs that are guided by the CNRM strategy. This role will be supported by the Water Management Officer to ensure programs align with TLaWC’s strategic and cultural objectives.

Biik Environmental is the TLaWC natural resource management service delivery enterprise. Biik Environmental is a subsidiary owned by TLaWC and managed as a business by the Biik General Manager. Biik Environmental is guided by the TLaWC CNRM strategy. The works it undertakes align with the leading principles of Healing Country, Reading Country, Caring for Country and Governing Country.

Key Duties

  • Undertake leadership duties within the Biik Environmental staff framework.
  • Undertake general Natural Resource Management activities such as revegetation, weed management and other duties as directed
  • Support Water Management Officer in delivering other CNRM water program activities.
  • On Country activities including supporting the CNRM Reading Country (Water) program including data collection and monitoring of cultural and Western science values at waterways, wetlands and other places as required to further Taungurung strategic and cultural objectives regarding water.
  • Participate in and support the activities of the Taungurung water knowledge group (Baan Ganalina);
  • Logistic and operational support for broader water program activities including both Reading Country (Water) and NRM activities to heal Country at waterways and wetlands;
  • Collation and processing of field data.
  • Act with integrity as a part of a cohesive team, upholding TLaWC and Biik Environmental values.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential capacities

  • Formal qualifications in Conservation and Land Management or equivalent preferred
  • Working experience in an NRM team.
  • Previous experience in collecting, analysing and curating data.
  • Victorian drivers licence.
  • Experience in an aquatic and/or riparian zone.

Personal Attributes

  • Previous experience working in remote or rural settings.
  • Strong safe working ethos.
  • Ability to work within a team in a field environment.
  • Be outcome focused and able to trouble shoot and solve problems
