Supporting the Fight for the Rubicon River

The Rubicon River is of deep cultural significance to the Taungurung people, our history, Ancestors and our inherent obligation to care for Taungurung Country. But a private landowner wants to divert the river by almost 600 metres for private use. This would change the natural way the river flows so that it can use the energy of this beautiful river system for private purposes. On 20 June, we had a win – the tribunal set aside the licence and sent Goulburn Murray Water back to reconsider its licensing decision. But this may not be over. The future of our river is still not secure. We need your support to protect this beautiful location and the life of the flora and fauna that inhabit this area. Funding this important case will safeguard the future of this beautiful River and Taungurung cultural heritage.
