The Cutting of a Kulamon (Coolamon) at Mt Buller

This is a Kulamon (Coolamon) that Shane Monk taught non-Indigenous people: ‘The Environment Team’ David McCoombe, Tom Kelly and Anthony Bock. Shane thought it was a good idea for the men to be involved in the process of cutting the kulamon to learn the value of our culture. Shane clarifies how proud and connected these men felt when completing the task. As you can see from their stance it was a perfect day had by all. Shane also expresses his passion by telling the story of the Kulamon and getting the information out into the community. This is a great way to involve the community to help us tell our story. December 2015.

This Kulamon will be proudly displayed on Mt Stirling. Told by Shane Monk -Taungurung Traditional Owner.
