Artwork Competition

$5000 in prizes! ‘It’s time to get your creative juices flowing’

TCAC is hosting a competition for members of our clans (aged 12 and up) to get involved and create an artwork for the TCAC web-site, stationary package and other documentation. Yes, that’s right, a competition! It’ll be a chance to promote one of our talented artists and our Taungurung (Victorian style) art. Remember, NO DOTS DOWN HERE!

Prizes

We’re offering three prizes: $3000 for first place, $1500 for second place and $500 for third. Entries will be judged by a panel assembled by the TCAC team.

The Brief

  • The artwork must have a story relating to Taungurung Country
  • You can interpret one of the existing Taungurung Creation Story or you can create your own new story
  • Stories in the artwork can be Traditional or Contemporary
  • All artwork entries need to have a short story about the artwork meaning and the meaning it has to the artists and Taungurung country

Inspiration from Taungurung

All artists should draw inspiration from aspects of our people, our country, our ancestors, our future, our totems, our resources, our knowledge, our history, etc. Research our artwork from Traditional form and bringit into the 21st century. Ask questions by speaking to your parents, cousins, Elders, etc. Ask yourself why you have decided to take this standpoint for the direction of your artwork and what it means to you. Let’s use our Victorian Aboriginal styles and not those symbols from up there.

Just Draw Your Best

You do not need to be an established artist or drawer. Just sketch your idea out as best you can, use some colour, make it proud and Deadly, and add meaning and connection.

To enter, you first need to email us for an entry form enquiries@taungurung.com.au. Your completed entry form, with artwork attached, must be received by us by 5:00pm on 1st August 2016.
